The New V4000 Press Brake Safety System is the first vision-based system for complete safeguarding on press brake machines in metalworking and automotive applications. |
 |
|
The system mounts on the upper beam of the press and safeguards the punch during the fast downward movement. The V4000 Press Brake System creates a safety volume underneath the punch. Its Output Signal Switching Device (OSSD) provides a signal to switch off the machine as soon as an intruding object is detected. The press brake monitoring system is easy to configure since it uses existing linear scales to calculate machine-relevant information such as the upper beam's position, velocity direction and stopping distance. The V4000 can also be easily integrated into the machine's human-machine interface (HMI). The SICK V4000 Press Brake System provides improved safety, increased productivity, and ease of implementation.

The V4000 Safety System protects the hazardous point on a press. Sender and receiver are mounted on the top tool and generate a protective zone directly underneath the punch; the protective zone moves with the punch. The receiver stops the machine, as a function of the pre-set bending process, as soon as an object that is not allowed (e.g. a hand or a finger) enters the protective zone.

The hazardous point on a hydraulic press is protected using two C4000 Safety Light Curtains (host/guest) in conjunction with a UE470 Safety Controller. All control signals, e.g., top dead center (TDC), bottom dead center (BDC) as well as the measurement of the stopping/rundown time and blanking for the sheet of metal are evaluated by the UE470 Controller. If a person reaches into the hazardous area, the press is stopped by the safety sensor technology. |

The access protection on the rear of the press is provided using a host/guest system comprising a vertically mounted M2000 Photoelectric Safety Switch and a horizontally arranged C2000 Safety Light Curtain as point-of-operation guarding. Entry into the hazardous area stops the dangerous movements of the press. The rear of this press is, unlike the application described above, protected from access with a so-called guard. i110S Safety Switches stop
the machine via a UE470 Safety Controller if a door is opened. |
