UE4200 AS-interface Safety-at-Work

The AS-interface Safety-at-Work system was developed as an enhancement to the existing AS-interface network. The designation AS-interface Safety-at-Work conveys the notion of secure transmission when incorporating safety devices into an AS-interface network.

The components for Safety-at-Work are compatible with all other AS-interface components, so that existing AS-interface applications can be expanded in a simple manner by safety-related functions.

AS-interface Safety-at-Work utilizes two type of components to implement safety-related control: Safety Monitors and Safety Slave bus nodes. AS-interface Safety-at-Work always requires a safety monitor that evaluates the safe signals in the bus, and a safe AS-interface bus node that makes it possible to transfer safe signals from safety-relevant components.

Several safety monitors and up to 31 safety slave bus nodes can be used in an AS-interface system. The parameters for the safety monitors can be set and diagnostics can be performed using the AS-interface and configuration software.

With AS-interface Safety-at-Work, safety requirements up to category 4 in compliance with EN 954-1 can be met.
With the UE4200 product family for AS-interface Safety-at-Work, a variety of modules are available to you for connecting safety sensors and evaluating safety functions within an AS-interface network.

  • UE4215 for connection of safety devices with solid state safety outputs (OSSDs) (e.g. C4000 series safety light curtains, S3000 series safety scanners.)
  • UE3212 for connection of electromechanical devices with contact outputs (e.g. safety interlock switches and emergency stops.)
  • UE4231/ UE4232 Safety Monitor for safety-oriented evaluation of sensor signals in AS-interface networks.
