The Actuator-Sensor Interface, called AS-lnterface®, is a system with which simple, binary and analog terminals – sensors, actuators and control units – can be networked via a cable on the lowest field level with the first control level.

AS-lnterface is not a conventional field bus, but instead is “intelligent wiring," which was designed as a universal and “open” system to provide a manufacturer independent solution on the lowest field level. Consequently, it handles an area, which can only be reached with difficulty or not at all.
